Applied Microsystems Ships CodeTEST 3.5
Embedded software engineers benefit from new features including Point-to-Point Timers, data profiling, and ISR measurements
REDMOND, Wash.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 3, 2001--
Applied Microsystems Corp. (NASDAQ: APMC - news) today announces CodeTEST
3.5 is now available.
This latest version of CodeTEST delivers significant improvements
to Applied's leading software analysis and verification product,
speeding time-to-market and reducing unnecessary costs currently
associated with embedded software development.
Vice President of Engineering Alex Doumani explains "This release
is a direct result of working with embedded software engineers in the
field who assisted us in identifying the key new features that you see
in CodeTEST 3.5 today. These features give embedded software engineers
much more control and flexibility when analyzing code performance,
more accurate time measurement, and the capability to uniquely
determine with unparalleled efficiency ISR execution performance,
something especially useful for time-critical systems."
CodeTEST 3.5 accomplishes this by delivering the unprecedented
access and visibility necessary to understand the increasingly complex
interaction of today's embedded systems. CodeTEST 3.5 provides clear
analysis of how a system can be improved, identifying everything from
memory leaks and errors to issues hindering better system performance.
CodeTEST delivers the required analysis (including the industry's
highest level of code coverage) and documentation to prove embedded
software quality- providing users a recognized competitive advantage
in the marketplace.
Point-to-Point Timers to Highest Possible Fidelity
CodeTEST 3.5 marks the introduction of new technology focusing on
user-selectable performance measurements, known as Point-to-Point
Timers. This allows users to define start and stop markers in their
code to conduct time measurements to the statement level - the finest
possible granularity. CodeTEST 3.5 can also concurrently perform
task-relative and "wall clock" time measurements, giving users unique
flexibility to analyze their code's performance.
Data Profiling for Uncharted Parent/Child Function Performance
Applied raises the bar one more notch on the effectiveness of its
patented instrumentation technology with the introduction in CodeTEST
3.5 of function inclusive/exclusive data profiling. Allowing the user
to measure time for a "parent" function only, or a parent function
plus its "child" functions, this feature adds considerable value to
the developer by providing flexibility in optimizing code performance.
Determine Real Execution Performance Impact of ISRs
CodeTEST 3.5 gives developers the ability to manage the impact
that interrupt service routines (ISRs) have on influencing the
accuracy of performance results. ISRs are extremely efficient
run-to-completion mechanisms for interfacing embedded software with
its external environment and translating changes to the environment
into data an application understands. Since ISRs consume CPU cycles,
they frequently skew the measurement results of performance-critical
applications. CodeTEST's ability to uniquely determine the impact of
ISRs on system performance is therefore particularly important in the
development and testing of real-time systems.
Scripting Capabilities that Automate Repetitive Tasks and
Measurements
CodeTEST 3.5 also provides scripting capabilities which allow
users to save substantial time and effort by writing automated scripts
for repetitive tasks such as configuration, initialization, collection
and analysis of measurement data. Users may also use CodeTEST to
conveniently trigger components such as testbeds.
Pricing & Availability
Available immediately, CodeTEST 3.5 tools begin at US $4,000.
CodeTEST 3.5 comes with a special introductory offer for a limited
time: users will receive the CodeTEST Memory Tool free when three or
more CodeTEST 3.5 tools are purchased at the same time. For more
